An Unexpectedly Hectic December for Commercial Site Security
December has hit the ground running — and honestly, we didn’t see this coming.
The winter event season is always busy, so a full diary isn’t unusual. What has surprised us this year is how sharply demand for commercial site security has increased, and why.
With building vacancies rising and the wider economy slowing down, more commercial units are sitting empty. And empty buildings need protecting. That shift has led to a surge in security requests we don’t normally see at this time of year.
It’s one of those moments where challenging conditions create unexpected demand. Not the way anyone wants to stay busy, but when businesses need help protecting their assets, that’s exactly where we step in.
When Art Meets Precision: A Milton Keynes Crane Installation
Not every job fits the usual mould of concrete barrier deployments, and this one was a perfect example.
We were called in to help install a large public art sculpture in Central Milton Keynes. A job like this isn’t just about lifting something heavy. It’s about precision.
The sculpture had to be craned over an existing structure and placed directly onto its mounting points. No room for error. No second attempt.
Using our state-of-the-art crane lorry, Neil was able to complete the lift with absolute control, positioning the sculpture exactly where it needed to go. Jobs like this highlight why we invest in top-tier equipment. Versatility matters, especially when conditions aren’t standard.
From commercial site security to public art installations, the same principles apply: preparation, precision, and the right tools for the job.
A Partnership Built on Trust: The Hook Installation
Some of the strongest projects come from long-standing relationships, and our recent installation in Hook is a great example.
We were called out by a partner we’ve worked with for over a decade to secure a newly completed commercial unit. When a client keeps coming back after ten years, it’s because trust has been earned – on both sides.
Innovation Through Collaboration
What makes this partnership stand out is collaboration.
Over the years, we haven’t just supplied commercial site security solutions — we’ve developed them together. That includes:
- The corner system, created to solve real-world deployment challenges
- Our drop curb, designed collaboratively to meet specific site needs
When clients feed real problems back into product development, the result is better, tougher, more practical security on the ground.
Maximum Security with the Twin Bolt System
For the Hook site, the client specified our MKII Barriers with the twin bolt system.
These connections aren’t standard fixings. They require a proprietary socket to install and remove, meaning casual tampering simply isn’t an option.
What really speaks volumes is this: the client now mandates that every MKII Barrier deployment is bolted together using this system. No exceptions.
They’ve seen firsthand how effective it is. When you make it as difficult as possible to breach a perimeter, you’re not just installing barriers — you’re installing confidence.
After ten years of partnership, that level of trust means more than any marketing claim ever could.
Community Matters: Deanshanger Village at Christmas
Security isn’t the only thing we support.
This December, we helped bring some festive cheer to Deanshanger Village by reshaping and installing five Christmas trees using our Multi Blocks! It’s a great example of how versatile the system really is.
The village decorators did an incredible job, and Jack from our team captured a beautiful moment under a full moon. It was community spirit at its best. 🎄
Commercial Unit Secured in Telford
Following a site eviction in Telford, we were asked to secure a commercial unit quickly to prevent unauthorised re-entry.
Our lead driver, Phil, deployed a heavy-duty 3-tonne gate alongside MKII Barriers, creating a robust perimeter that gives the landlord peace of mind.
Fast response and effective commercial site security are critical in eviction scenarios, and this deployment delivered exactly that.
Looking Ahead
December has been a reminder that this industry demands flexibility.
One day, it’s a precision art installation. The next, high-security commercial deployments. Add in an unexpected surge in demand, and you need a team that’s ready for anything.
With the full Block Aid UK team, an expanded fleet – including our new 40-foot trailer with rear steering – and partnerships built on years of trust, we’re ready for whatever comes next.
